The Crowned Lion dates back to William of Orange who landed in Devon, prior to taking the English Throne. The ship denotes our maritime history, Drake and Raleigh to name but two.

The badge was designed in the late seventies or early eighties. The old districts were changed and new areas were formed and Lochaber needed a badge. The Scouts were asked to design one and this is what was chosen as the winning design. For those that can't work it out (it's not that hard!) it indicates the mountains, trees and locha that we have - against that lovely blue sky solihull.gif (1676 bytes) Avon

This is the Durham County badge, it is the cross of saint cuthbert, a local saint, the original badge was rectangular with a pale gold cross on black silk, it was changed to the shown badge on dark blue and then to todays colours of gold on black.
