Whilst many fine people gave Greenock Scouting its foundation, the man who built upon that and who guided and led the movement locally for over thirty years as District Commissioner right up to the 1970s was the late James J. Swan. Greenock Scouting was most fortunate in having a man of his quality and character. Amongst many other things, Jim Swan is remembered by the establishment of the J.J.Swan Quest and in the design of the Greenock District Badge emblem which we wear on our uniforms. A Swan on sky blue background flanked by two Green Oak trees.
