Building giant catapaults known as ballista is a traditional pioneering challenge that seems to be as popular in Oz as it is in the UK. E Walton took the photo and gives us permission to publish it.

I hope you like my photo. It was a great fun and learning weekend for Joey,Cub and Scout Leaders. This was a pioneering weekend organised and run by myself with one other leader Dave Griffiths. It took place at Camp Tucker 30 miles south of Whyalla (we are 250 miles noth east of Adelaide our State capital.) The weekend was for all leaders in Whyalla and Eyre Districts and some leaders travelled a round trip of almost 750 miles to attened. Note the absence of any grass. We live in a semi arid area. Frank one of our Cub Leaders is on the Ballista.
