Photo of the Month - June 2001
Derek is now an Assistant Beaver Scout Leader with the 3rd Tewkesbury Scout Group of Tewkesbury District in Gloucestershire. If you have ever wondered how and why you get to be a Scout Leader then Derek's story illustrates a very familiar sequence of events some people.
Here are some photographs I took in May last year at the Tewkesbury District Millennium Family Camp. At the time, George had just turned six and was a new Beaver Scout, and I was just one of the Dads; after seeing the fun that he and his older sisters had at camp I volunteered to help... (familiar story?). I'm now doing leader training and enjoying every moment....
George having a go at the assault course (the Cubs and Scouts had to do it blindfold!)
So has Derek caught the Scouting bug? It seems so from what he says next!
All in all a great week-end and possibly the start of a long family involvement in Scouting?

The results of one of the craft stations with a very proud creator!
